Federal Income Tax Credit: Take advantage of the Residential Clean Energy Credit “CEC”!
The CEC provides taxpayers with a credit equal to 30% of the costs of new, qualified clean energy components installed between 2022 through 2032.
The CEC applies to costs towards the purchase of property that uses solar energy to produce electricity for use in a dwelling unit used for a primary or secondary residence.
A dwelling unit typically includes mobile homes as long as they have living accommodations such as a sleeping space, cooking capability, and/or bathroom facilities.
The property that is eligible for the CEC program includes new solar panels, qualifying batteries having at least 3 kilowatt hours of capacity and related components to make the system functional including inverters, wiring, and monitoring equipment.
The CEC will reduce, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, the consumer’s federal income tax liability for the year in which the property was purchased. Excess credit can be forwarded to future year tax reductions.
